He’s All That has made its debut on Netflix, and by now you’ve probably seen the reaction to the modern-day, gender-flipped 2021 remake of She’s All That all over social media. Starring TikTok’s very own Addison Rae in her acting debut alongside Tanner Buchanan, Madison Pettis, Rachael Leigh Cook, Peyton Meyer, Isabella Crovetti, Kourtney Kardashian, and Matthew Lillard, the story follows an influencer (Rae) as she gets back at her ex (Meyer) by turning her high school’s biggest loser (Buchanan) into the most popular kid in the grade.
This was never going to be the next Best Picture contender at the Oscars, so I’m not sure why everyone is acting like this is such a letdown. It’s not going to be in my top ten movies of the year, but it’s definitely going to stay in the top ten of Netflix’s trending titles as long as we all keep on talking about everyday. It’s the big cheesy rom-com that comes around every few months that we all watch and then proceed to complain about, but we still watched it in the first place. It’s supposed to be a dumb fun movie that everyone manages to see or at least talk about, and it knows that, so you should too.
