It’s quite literally the beginning of the end as the first part of Ozark‘s final season has just debuted on Netflix today. We’ve been waiting quite some time for these new episodes, especially when you consider that it has been 664 days (literally) since season 3 premiered in 2020. The first 7 episodes of season 4 are now streaming, and the final 7 episodes (aka the final episodes ever of Ozark) debut later this year.
The Byrde family’s money laundering scheme is still a-go, and they’re just getting folded more and more into the ice-cold chaos. Standouts this season are Laura Linney as an absolutely unhinged Wendy Byrde and, of course, Julia Garner as the ruthless (I had to do it) Ruth. The Byrde children — Sofia Hublitz’s Charlotte and Skylar Gaertner’s Jonah — are finally given a chance to peel back a few new layers, and we learn more and more about their characters’ true motivations.
The humor is dark, and the family chemistry is strained, making for an entirely new kind of entertaining and mysterious new season. The thrills are intense, and the ride is suspenseful, causing a healthy amount of anxiety.
