This film is packed with pop songs, and with good reason, because our main character here is a wedding singer, and Alicia Keys served as one of the movie’s producers. Bring on the music!
‘The Last Letter From Your Lover’ hit Netflix last week, but before it premiered, I got to talk to director Augustine Frizzell about what it was like working with HAIM, who released an original song titled “Cherry Flavored Stomach Ache” for the film, and her involvement in the curation of the movie’s soundtrack.
Don’t be fooled by the trailer or some of the marketing for this movie. It isn’t an action movie, it’s a dramatic-crime-thriller, and it’s all the better for it. The unconventional nature of how this is set up is part of the appeal, refusing to follow an ABCDE structure and opting for a winding storyline that results in real answers.

TALK released his debut single titled “Run Away To Mars” in June after gaining a following on TikTok earlier this year. His voice and persona as an artist are so developed for this to be his first release, and I was immediately intrigued by his style.
The comedic timing in this couldn’t be better. The balance is struck perfectly with the dramatic nature of the story supported by its realistic humor. It such a tender and direct story that gets right to the point.
